The Onalaska Independent School District has a school bond on this year's election that they are hoping is approved to address the growing school population here in Onalaska. Currently there are approximately 1290 kids in the Onalaska schools with expected school population of 1500 kids in the next five years. The current school system has all classrooms utilized. The bond, if approved, will allow the new high school to be built, will allow for the growth being projected and would make Onalaska a more desireable place to live. The bond would add 20 cents per thousand in property taxes unless you have already filed for Homestead and are over 65 years old.
